Meet Bill Steele

Steele-A-Weigh Yacht Sales was founded by Bill Steele, a 41 year Pacific Northwest marine industry veteran.

Bill started his marine career with Kitsilano Marine and Lumber Company in 1970, founded River Marine Supplies in 1979, moved over to Force 10 Marine in 1981, had a brief tenor with Forbes Cooper (Yacht Builder) in the early nineties and became the store manager of the Olympic Yacht Center, Bayliner/Meridian Granville Island store in Vancouver for nine years.

While enjoying a week-end in Roche Harbour at a Bayliner Yacht Rendevous many of his close friends and customers suggested that he consider forming a yacht brokerage which was different than the norm. His direct 'tell it like it is' attitude and his knowledge of the yachts and their operation made a perfect guide-line for a successful launching of a yacht brokerage.

In July of 2001 Bill and his wife Karol, started Steele-A-Weigh Yacht Sales Inc., a British Columbia company. In 2004 Steele-A-Weigh Yachts LLC, a Washington State company was formed. Their main goal is to have fun with what they do. They are committed to both Buyers and Sellers and their objective is to make everyone comfortable with a fair transaction for all.

Both Bill and Karol understand that buying and selling a yacht is not a simple thing, relationships are started, trust is earned, products are presented with nothing hidden and the transactions are smooth and stress-free. They want people to know why it is called 'Pleasure Boating'.

Bill has owned numerous sailboats during his years as the owner of River Marine and Force 10 Marine including a Catalina 27, a Newport 30 and an Erikson 39. Throw in a couple of Swiftsures and his Wednesday night experiences and he has had a lot of fun 'on the sheets'. In his last motor yacht, a PT 38 and with his stint with Bayliner, he has cruised extensively in the San Juans, The Gulf Islands and has done an Alaska passage.

Steele-A-Weigh Yachts specializes in mid-sized pleasure yachts. They have represented and sold motor yachts such as Bayliner, Searay, Meridian, Tollycraft, Carver, Silverton, Ocean Alexanders, Uniflite, Hampton, Westbay. Mainship and others. They have successfully brokered sailing yachts from Hunter, C&C, Catalina, Erickson, Newport, Benateau. O’Day and more. They are a member of the British Columbia Yacht Brokers Association.

Bill's knowledge of both power and sail spans his 40+ years in the pleasure marine industry. He is comfortable listening and understanding the customers and their needs. If he can help, he wants people to enjoy being on the water.

"For 40 years my employment has been other people’s enjoyment, how can I go wrong"
